Welcome to our homepage. We are an Anglican parish
ministering in an urban, ethnically diverse and multi-faith context
on the northern side of the City of Leicester. The total population
of the parish is about 35,000, and all of the electoral wards
in the Parish fall within the lowest 10% in the country on recent
indices of deprivation.
With the other local Churches, the Anglican congregations
are trying to work out what it means to be a Christian presence
in an area where most people belong to other faiths. There are
several large Hindu Temples and community centres in the Parish.
There are also smaller numbers of Sikhs and Muslims, with a Sikh
Gurdwara and several Mosques in the area. Running the length of
the Parish is the Belgrave Rd, known locally as the "Golden
Mile" for the large number of jewellery shops, and the spectacular
illuminated decorations put up during Diwali (a major Hindu festival).
It is an exciting place to live and work. Together
we aim to support one another in proclaiming the good news of
God's love and building community.
